James Hadley Chase: The Master of Noir Born on Christmas Eve

James Hadley Chase was born as René Lodge Brabazon Raymond on December 24, 1906, in London, England.
He was a British writer best known for his crime and thriller novels. Despite never having visited the United States during much of his early writing career, he set most of his stories in America, heavily influenced by American crime fiction and the gangster era. His breakthrough novel, "No Orchids for Miss Blandish" (1939).
Over his career, he wrote more than 90 novels. He often wrote under various pseudonyms. He died on February 6, 1985, in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he had been living for many years.
